Colorful native gardens welcome visitors into a wide plaza. The space is lively with water, seating, and food trucks. As the central hub of Northwest Community Park, the plaza serves a vital role as space for gathering, play, performances, and more.
Plaza Playground
From slides to sand and sculptural play features, the playground adjacent to the plaza suits younger children perfectly. Its close proximity to shade, water play, and restrooms makes access for families ideal.
Inclusive Playground
Play richness enables children of all abilities to grow and learn through physical, emotional, sensory, and social experiences. It offers large and small, younger and older users alike the opportunity to purse and build on their personal interests, skills, and strengths. Sensory experiences are designed to motivate five senses that our bodies have, creating a joyful, multifaceted play experience.

Great Lawn
Spilling out from the plaza, the Great Lawn stretches out across the southern end of Northwest Community Park. Along with providing stunning views, the lawn’s size and flexibility make it suitable for kite-flying, pick-up soccer games, and everything in between.
Picnic Groves
Shaded spots for picnicking dot the edges of the Great Lawn, providing views and moments of rest on sunny days. Restored Blackland Prairie borders the groves, immersing users in natural space and providing wildlife habitat.
Discovery Trail
Capitalizing on its close proximity to Sue Wilson Stafford Middle School and Billy Gene Phillips Elementary, the discovery trail teaches visitors of all ages about the riches of the Blackland Prairie through playful and artistic interventions.
